Licorice root has been used for centuries in traditional herbal medicine to support the throat, respiratory system, and digestive tract. Today, it's most commonly taken by people looking to soothe an irritated throat, support healthy digestion, or give their respiratory system a little extra help when they're feeling run down.
If you've reached the point where you'd challenge a cactus to a wet T-shirt swallowing contest, this is one of those herbs people often end up looking into. Although... now that I think about it, somebody would first have to convince the cactus to wear the shirt, which feels like a logistical nightmare all by itself, and honestly I'm not convinced the shirt survives more than about half a second anyway. Like most herbal supplements, the goal isn't to magically erase a sore throat overnight. It's simply giving your body a traditional herb that's been used for generations to support the upper respiratory tract and digestion, so getting your aura back feels a little more realistic.
